First draft of the Affero GPL version 3
The license changes keep coming. While work is wrapping up on the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPLv3), the Free Software Foundation has released the first discussion draft of the Affero GPLv3.
The original Affero GPL was an attempt to address the network loophole -- where a party might modify GPLed software that provides services over a network, but not contribute changes because the program is not being "distributed" in the typical sense of the word. According to the release, the new draft provides similar protection, but does not extend the AGPL clause to other types of programs.
