How-To: Resolve Ubuntu Wireless Problems
Since starting on my quest for a flawless wireless support with Ubuntu Dapper, and then finally understanding the level of support to be expected with the Ubuntu distro itself, I've come to the following conclusions.
First off, if you consider yourself the "do it yourself" type, then working to get the wireless functionality working the way you would like to is certainly doable. For some it will be an out of the box experience, but for most people, there will indeed, be a firm time investment spent in the Ubuntu forums.
As for the casual user, who is not the type to edit their Windows registry, then using Wubi may be the best bet until its time to upgrade to a new notebook. At that point, then you can use one of the many Ubuntu vendors in the market who sell Ubuntu pre-installed or go with Dell.
Some of you may be wondering what happened to my "the sky is falling" mentality regarding the sad state of Linux wireless.
