Top Ten List of Software YOU Need in Ubuntu Linux
After using Ubuntu Linux for the past six months or so, I finally came across probably the last piece of software that I thought was "missing but really should be there".
The following is a list of the top ten pieces of software that most Ubuntu users should consider installing on their system. I'm leaving off the obvious ones like Firefox and OpenOffice because 1) they are obvious, and 2) they come pre-installed anyway. So, without further delay, here is the list (in order of decreasing importance):
1. Beryl (3D and desktop compositing)
This pretty much goes without saying. This application has persuaded many people to finally give Linux a try (or a second, third, fourth, etc try). As soon as Compiz-Fusion becomes more stable, the application will be even more impressive.
