"A few more" versions of Linux Kernel 2.6.20 planned
Willy Tarreau, maintainer of the 2.4 kernel series, wants to continue to oversee the Linux version 2.6.20 a bit longer than the maintainers of the stable kernel series would normally have done.
The latter have been releasing since Linux 2.6.11.1 error corrections for the current version of the 2.6 series and designate them with a fourth number. For some months now, they have still been releasing fixes now and again for the previous version, when required – which has also been the case over the past two weeks, when the stable team released the kernel 2.6.21.7 and 2.6.22.2 although 2.6.22 is already one month old.
Tarreau wanted to persuade the two maintainers to also oversee an updated version for 2.6.20. He wound up doing the work himself.
