A guide to better understanding the KDE 3.5 Konsole
One of the greatest tools of any Linux or BSD system is the console. There are numerous different shells that go with it as well as graphical interfaces to allow you to make use of it. In this overview we will be covering just one of those applications, namely the KDE "Konsole" graphical console interface application.
To better understand it, we first have to understand what an actual "console" is. But before we go on, I want to clarify an item to avoid confusion. For those who might get confused, KDE likes to name its own apps with a capital "K" to help users differentiate between a 3rd party or native Linux/BSD application and one that comes bundled with KDE. Hence the name "Konsole" is used when refering to KDE's own native console interface application and "console" is used when refering to the generic Linux/BSD system console. Now that we've cleared that up, let's move forward.
Now if you're a new user to Linux, or one who's somewhat experienced, but has never been in the console or the command line, you might ask "What is a console?"
