Over the weekend I got into a mood to try out another window manager besides my beloved KDE. Warning! There may be some prejudice here I thought that if I could find a good WM to run on my aging flaky computer I might be able to squeak by until I get a new motherboard.
I did some googling around and finally decided to give fluxbox a try. The screenshots on the websites are wonderful and exciting so after a quick "apt-get install fluxbox" and about 30 seconds wait for the massively huge one and a half megabyte or so file download I was ready to dive in.
A minute later I was typing in my password to log in to the fluxbox window manager. Pressed enter and waited. Waited and Waited. Just a sec! It had already loaded and I was looking at a blank desktop. Wow! It loaded so fast that I didn't realise it. For someone who is used to waiting thirty or forty seconds and watching the bouncing icons for KDE to start this was a shocker.
So I am sitting here looking at a blank screen wondering what to do? Then I did what every geek does. I started clicking every button I could see. Left click. Nothing. Right click. Aha! A menu...
