Running KDE on the Nokia N770 and N800
An intrepid Internet Tablet Talk forum member with the handle "Penguinbait" has provided instructions explaining how to install KDE 3.5.6 on the Nokia 770 and N800 web tablet devices. Not for the faint of heart, the instructions require a bit of command-line work.
The Maemo platform that Nokia ships with the 770 and N800 is based primarily on GNOME technologies like GTK, which makes it less appealing to KDE enthusiasts and developers. The ability to run KDE from a partition on an SD card reflects the extreme versatility and openness of Nokia's web tablet devices.
