Why don’t more people use Debian?
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve caught myself wondering why there are so many “easy-to-use” Debian-based distros. I used to think of Debian as the distro that was way up there, a long long way to go, in terms of user-friendlyness. I didn’t think that I was going to be able to use Debian. It just seemed to hard.
Now, I have been running Debian for a couple of weeks, and I don’t get it: Why don’t people just run Debian? It’s seriously stable as hell, even when running testing (Lenny), and it feels.. standard, in a good way.
Let me explain:
When you’re searching forums, and searchengines for information on how to do something, you might fins loads of answers, but if you’re running Ubuntu, as an example, packages might not be called “what they should be called”.
