ATI fglrx 8.44/7.12 on openSUSE
This time there is no how-to, hopefully the new drivers will be provided via 1-click soon. Here is a quick look at the state of the matter.
What’s good:
* Xgl works once again, it is as simple as running gnome-xgl-switch -e
* AIGLX is comparable as the last release, no visible difference, LD_LIBRARY_PATH line is no longer required in compiz-manager(just that one)
What sucks:
* I can’t get 1440×900 resolution for my Viewsonic VA1912w LCD, it worked on 8.43
* Video playback is still flickery, and sometimes also crashes X

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources.
