Looking for a nice KDE distribution? Try Mandriva 2008 Spring
My old laptop Acer Aspire 1705SMi with Pentium 4 3GHz and 1 GB RAM started to show its age. Windows XP did not run on it exceptionally well, so I decided to install Linux on it too.
This time I decided to try OpenSUSE 11 as there seems to be much hype about it. I disliked it at once.
Come on, guys, PCLinuxOS, OpenSolaris, Sabayon Linux, Ubuntu, FreeBSD 6 - all installed and ran on this 5-year-old laptop without problems. OpenSUSE 11 did not, so good riddance to it.
I remembered I had used Mandriva years ago. I downloaded the free edition of Mandriva 2008 Spring and burnt it to a DVD.
