Foresight Kid's can inspire young minds
Foresight Linux is best known by many as the distribution that features the Conary package management system. Perhaps soon it may become known as your child's favorite distro. The recent release of Foresight Kid's Edition 1.0 introduces a new generation to the benefits of Linux and open source software. Not that kids care about that -- they'll just appreciate the unlimited hours of fun at their fingertips.
Foresight Kid's Edition captures children's attention immediately with its happy bumblebee character, smiling and waving from the lower corner of the brightly colored desktop. Distractions are kept to a minimum on the panel and desktop, with only a few icons such as Trash and Home showing. The customized Slab menu is also constructed for children, having entries for the applications of interest to youngsters in the Favorite Applications screen (main panel).
My 4-year-old granddaughter test drove Foresight Kid's Edition and had a wonderful time. Her previous computer experience didn't include menu operation as far as I knew, but she had observed its use. Up until this point she had been accustomed to finding the icons for Tuxpaint and Frozen Bubble on the desktop. Possibly due to the contrast, she was first drawn to the Trash icon, but it didn't take long before she was clicking the menu start button. When the menu unfolded, she moved the cursor to the snaky Nibbles icon and clicked.

Foresight Kid's can inspire young minds
My 8 years old daughter always shares my installed Linux distributions with me for different reasons and one of the reason is that she loves to play various games on Linux. So whenever I install any Linux I have to make a right corner on my desktop with shortcuts to all her games so that she can have fun with them.Tuxpaint,Tuxracer,Frozen bubble,Child`s play,Potato Guy,Same Game, and many more games are favorites.
I have used Foresight Linux on many occasions and I had various problems with it so despite the fact that it is narrated as a "good" distribution in many reviews times and again but I could never make it work and it did not touch my heart as it should have.
I never had any issue setting up Kids games on any distribution. Currently I am dual booting sidux and SimplyMepis 8.0 beta and my daughter has her fun at her hands on both. She has downloaded a huge collection of her favorites wallpapers and she runs them as slide show when she is playing games so she is quite in her "kids" environment.
I don`t see any point downloading Foresight Kid's just becuase it offers the kids games.I can set any desktop distribution more easily for my dauhgter along with the easy management and stability of that distribution say sidux than getting Foresight Kid's. So imho Foresight Kid's doesn`t score any points from my side no matter how good is conary or the latest and greatest GNOME on Foresight Linux.

Too optimistic
Susan, you were too optimistic wrt Foresight. The repos are slow like hell (maybe they're not that slow to you, but you're in the US), and Conary is no light speed either.
