Mandriva 2006.0
A few years back when I realized that Linux was becoming my passion, and that Lycoris was not powerfully enough for my needs, I found Mandrake. In Mandrake I found a powerfully easy to use and imminently likable Distro. It was leading if not bleeding edge, keeping the repositories very up to date and full of the latest applications. I loved it! No questions asked. With the newest release, and all the hype of the merger with Conectiva and Lycoris, I felt it was time for another look.
A great promise, a great look, an awesome configuration program, and poor for Linux stability.

Well that was frickin' exciting...
I was hoping against hope that Mandriva would really, really shake things up with the 2006 release. all they seem to have shaken is my faith that they can get a good Linux distro into production. It's glitzy, its fairly fast and the package selection is outstanding. Especially Beagle. PCLinuxOS REALLY needs to get this package incorporated into the final release. KAT just isn't doing it...at least for me and the few people I've talked to about it.
To be honest, I have a copy of the conectiva 10 Live CD I still use for demo purposes and its better than mandriva 06. think I'll just go back to my corner and sulk. Oh, no I won't. Rumor has it that Elive is getting ready to spring .4 on us...Joy oh Joy.
