Dont ditch Windows!
Being the most friendly OS from time immemorial, Windows serves as a very good platform to learn for young minds. Who else can teach us of security threats, virus attacks, boring graphics, almost zero eye-candy, less than optimum hardware utilization, a binding EULA, the most annoying WGA - Windows Genuine Advantage, almost useless updates, easy back-doors, and blah blah blah...
After experiencing the above things, keep your frustration from erupting and calm down. list down all the problems and try to look for answers in the FOSS world! the power is limitless coz, people dont work for money's sake and the prime focus is on overall quality.
i did the same thing by installing Ubuntu on my PC and I am a happier man since then! After a little meddling work with PC, there was no turning back... Yay!! Humanity for others has given me limitless freedom!
PS:Windows can still be used to play games, until u caome across WINE short for windows emulator. only if it fails will u boot up Windows, unless u r desperate to use the application which failed, or till support for your problem will be offered with a solution!
Try it, and see the ocean of change, for yourself.
