Windows vs. Linux vs. Unix: More Old News
This is old news in more ways than one. But I post it up to be consistent with quarterly reports I have made here and here over the last year, interpreting IDC's findings about the operating systems server manufacturers ship from the factory.
This is old news both because it was released in early December and I haven't had a chance to look it over, and it's old news because the finding seems consistent quarter after quarter.
* Windows is progressively gaining against "other."
* Linux is gaining against Unix.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |
