Gnome vs KDE in Ubuntu - 2009
Ubuntu uses as default Gnome and Kubuntu uses KDE. If we are to keep the facts straight we need to also take into consideration the versions. Ubuntu OS taken into consideration is 8.10 called (Intrepid Ibex). Ubuntu 8.10 uses Gnome 2.24 and Kubuntu 8.10 uses KDE 4.1.
I believe the best way to summarize the difference is a few words is hard, but I'll give it a try :
- Gnome is very user friendly , easy to use , and very intuitive
- KDE is for advance user, it's different, it's eye candy
The entire post was inspired by a single idea : if most application for Ubuntu I used are part of KDE , isn't it probable that KDE is better then GNOME ? The answer : you decide for yourself !
There is a thin line when comparing Ubuntu with Kubuntu. I personally believe the comparison is not fair because other linux distros might do a better job with KDE integration.
