Welcome to Ubuntu
When it comes to software nothing could be bigger than the operating system that runs the computer — even here, there are freeware operating systems based on Linux that enthusiasts and even casual users can install.
Currently, the most full-featured and user-friendly freeware operating system has got to be Ubuntu, a Linux-based consumer and server grade operating system that’s been getting better and better with each upgrade.
Ubuntu, downloadable from www.ubuntu.com, is perhaps the most consumer-friendly of the Linux distributions currently available on the market.
It has extensive built-in driver support and comes with plenty of open-source and free software, such as the OpenOffice suite, DVD burning applications and even multimedia players.
So once Ubuntu is installed, you basically have everything you need for most computing tasks.
