PC-BSD 7.1 released
The PC-BSD developers have announced the release of version 7.1 – Galileo Edition of their open source operating system. PC-BSD 7.1 is based on the 7.2 Pre version of FreeBSD, an operating system derived from BSD UNIX that focuses on security and stability. PC-BSD development is sponsored by iXsystems.
The 7.1 release uses the current version of KDE, 4.2.2, as it's standard desktop and includes X.org version 7.4. A new KDE 4 printer applet is included that allows users to easily add and manage printers and print jobs. The KDE 4 printer applet no longer requires users to use the CUPS web interface. Improvements have also been made to the PC-BSD's System Installer, Wi-Fi and Networking tools. PC-BSD Galileo Edition now includes a native version of the Warden utility, a graphical front end for the creation of FreeBSD jails and virtualised FreeBSD installations.
