Lets see here… Ubuntu currently has very stable IM and audio apps with sane resource utilization and are 100% patent free and copyleft protected. The question to ask is “How can i fuck this up?”
Well you see the first step is to get rid of Pidgin. Pidgin has been around a really long time, lots of useful plugins from everything to OTR encryption to Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and LiveJournal functionality either built in or can be added in. There’s all sorts of plugins, even Evolution and Rhythmbox integration.

Its funny how everyone
Its funny how everyone likes Gnome-do but they hate Banshee and Empathy when they are all coded in mono. The mono debate never came up when Gnome-do was first around yet; now everyone hates mono for some reason. It just seems alittle silly that the same people that hate mono now had no problem with it a couple months ago when Gnome-do was in Ubuntu.
I am willing to bet that a good majority of the people that hate mono also have unlicensed codecs on their machines. Those are a bigger threat to Linux than mono ever will be or even was.
