Which Linux do you tell n00bs to use?
As you were frantically pounding away at your keyboard, your workmate asks what sort of operating system you are using. Your eyes light up, you switch to evangilistic mode and start spouting the benefits of Linux.
This time however, the target of your torrent of Linux propaganda is not standing there with glazed eyes and a vacant look. Instead, this fledgling Borglet is doing a great impression of a bobblehead toy as they nod at the important points of your well rehearsed sermon.
The time approaches, the fish is circling the bait, primed and ready for the question you know will be asked. Unable to restrain themselves any longer the question is blurted out. "WOW! That's really great. I want to install it on my computer. Where can I get this Linux? How much is it?"
Now how do you answer this question?

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |

Interesting question...
For me it depends on the person and situation;
If I have the time to help them (family/friends I see day to day) I recommend what I use because I can get it working as best as possible.
I know there aren't too many differences between say Ubuntu and SuSE but they both implement different technologies with their own set of 'features' read bugs.
If I can't or have no interest in helping them I always start praising the large active Ubuntu forums. (Not for me personally but some prefer it)
I always try to encourage people to use Kubuntu coming from windows, and I've seen one user coming from MacOS (and went back to it claiming 'you get what you pay for') who was lost without gnome.

people I like:
"here's what I use and how great it is and how I can set it up"
people I don't like:
"here's Ubuntu..."
