New module decisions for GNOME 3.0
Following some lengthy discussions within the GNOME community, release manager Vincent Untz has published a summary of the new modules to be included in the next major release of the GNOME desktop environment for Linux and Unix.
GNOME 3.0, scheduled to arrive in September of this year, will not include the GNOME Activity Journal, formerly known as GNOME Zeitgeist. The GNOME Shell, which provides core interface functions such as switching windows and launching applications, will be included. However, the Clutter graphical user interface (GUI) toolkit, which doesn't yet belong to the GNOME infrastructure, won't.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world.
