Until recently, I thought of Writely as an obscure, but potentially useful combination word processing and Web blogging tool. Then, Google bought it, and everything changed.
Writely isn't a Linux word-processor. It's an "any operating system with an Internet connection and a Web browser" word-processor.
Now, with Google's acquisition, it's suddenly gone from being a darling of the techie cutting edge who love Web 2.0 and AJAX applications, to being proclaimed a "Microsoft Office killer' by some.
Whoa! Hold your horses, guys. Even Jen Mazzon, a member of Google's Writely team said that, "It's far from perfect."
