But in a move that reveals the growing influence of open source beyond its traditional space, Perforce has joined the Linux Foundation and is very committed to supporting and protecting open-source code. Perforce is a leading vendor in the software-versioning business. Its main product, Git Fusion, is a value-added platform based on the open source git project, the version-control system for code that Linus Torvalds, founder of the Linux kernel, created to assist with kernel development. git is one of the most widely used versioning platforms available today.
