Ballmer, Linux, Open Source, and google
Open source is beating Microsoft in areas where the software firm is lacking in innovation. But when competing head to head on features, Microsoft has no trouble beating open source, Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer argued during a public speaking engagement in Silicon Valley.
Customers don't opt for open source applications over religious beliefs that their openness is better than a proprietary model, he argued, but because of their features.
"Where we don't have market share [against open source], that is because we have to innovate."
"We need a better high performance clustered technology than what Linux has, " he said.
