Poor man's Evolution visual notifier
Evolution is probably the most advanced e-mail client in GNU/Linux, however it lacks a basic feature every Windows program has: it can't provide you with a visual notification when a new message is received.
There are workarounds, a possible solution being presented on this blog on Jan. 22: Evonotify, by Jean-Yves Lefort. It's a good gtk-perl script able to add GNOME panel mail notification to Evolution using a filter.
However, this has some dependencies not every user wants (or know how to) to solve. Can't you have a much simpler solution, just a 15 seconds quick hack?
