PPPoE ADSL in Zenwalk Linux
Zenwalk Linux is a fine Slackware derivative, known as Minislack through mid-2005.
However, as with other Slackware derivatives, obtaining a properly-working PPPoE ADSL connection is not 100% trivial, despite the use of Roaring Penguin's rp-pppoe package.
In theory, with a working Ethernet adapter, you should be configuring the PPPoE connection with pppoe-setup, then start it with pppoe-start.
You can say it works this way (it gets connected and if you have "DNSTYPE=SERVER" in /etc/ppp/pppoe.conf), and it will even get the nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf... but it will fail to set proper routes, no matter the same config file says "DEFAULTROUTE=yes".
So you will be having a non-working connection!

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |
