KOffice 1.6 Alpha Released
Swiftly following the latest bugfix release for KOffice 1.5, the KDE Project today announced the release of KOffice 1.6 alpha. This is the first preview release for KOffice 1.6, scheduled for release this October.
This release specifically introduces the following highlights:
Lots of new exciting features for Krita and Kexi
Krita and Kexi has gained many new features and enhancements of old features. There are too many to list here, so for more details look in the announcement, or the complete changelog
OpenDocument Support in KFormula
KFormula has received a great workover. Among the most important changes is almost complete support for the OpenDocument file format which is now the default format.
Scripting support in KSpread
KSpread, the spreadsheet program, now supports scripting in Python and Ruby just like Krita and Kexi. This is done through the KOffice scripting engine Kross.
Of course, there are also fixes for a number of bugs and introduces a number of lesser features.
