Wow it's advertising
And the "OS as a Religion" crowd the world over wets themselves.
No matter what they do it is
No matter what they do it is gonna be a while before linux is mainstream. Ive turned a few family members and friends on to it who were originally windows users and they don't like it and even find it complicating. Of course it is not as we all know but think about it, not everyone is linux enthusiasts and experienced users like ourselves.
Ubuntu really needs to fix the sound issues, the one channel sound and all. Also using a mic is a crappy task and when you finally get it set right and go to do it again a few days later after listening to music or whatever your settings are all screwed up again. Actually recently on my dapper Teamspeak voice does not work at all, and you have to go through the settings routine on skype.
If they fix that and other multimedia problems as well as some other bugs then it will finally become more mainstream.
