Your fear of open source lock-in is ridiculous
As an industry, we've spent decades collectively wringing our hands over Evil Vendor Lock-In. And for equally as long, we've happily shoveled hundreds of billions of dollars into these same vendors whose lock-in we allegedly fear: Microsoft, Oracle, and now Amazon. If it weren't for proprietary licensing, cloud hosting, or other evil machinations, we'd live in a paradise of perfect competition and everyday low prices.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources.
