Happy 10th Anniversary KDE
10 years ago, on October 14th 1996, Matthias Ettrich announced a project to create a complete and consistent GUI for the prospering Linux operating system. The project grew and matured and now it is 2006 and KDE is one of the largest Free Software projects.
To celebrate this anniversary the KDE project encourages the community to organise events all over the world, to meet and party and celebrate Free Software. The main event will take place in Stuttgart, Germany on October 13th (we'll party into October 14th) when the KDE e.V. invites the community, business partners and friends of KDE to celebrate this outstanding achievement. Other events are scheduled in the Netherlands (Nijmegen) and Portugal.
